Still Mountain T’ai Chi and Chi Kung is dedicated to the true essence of T’ai Chi Chuan as practiced in Buddhist Temples in China—namely, the combined emphasis upon martial skill, spiritual development, and overall health.
T’ai Chi Chuan (or taijiquan or Tai Chi) has been practiced for thousands of years, and has evolved into a number of different styles including Chen, Yang, and Wu, each of which has a distinctive flavor but shares in the common goal of developing the physical and mental prowess of the practitioner. Still Mountain T’ai Chi and Chi Kung offers a number of classes, seminars, and workshops that cover a wide variety of styles and forms, but at its core, Still Mountain seeks to remain faithful to the essence of T’ai Chi and is committed to teaching that essence to a diverse body of people—from children to adults and seniors.
Dr. David Clippinger, the Director of Still Mountain, has extensive training in T’ai Chi, Taoism, and Buddhism. As a Buddhist monk, Clippinger is dedicated to integrating the spiritual dimension of T’ai Chi alongside self-defense and general health training, and he brings his years of the study of martial arts and Buddhism, as well as his commitment to the way of Buddhism and T’ai Chi to his teaching of T’ai Chi Chuan.
In this respect, the overarching goal of Still Mountain is to cultivate the complete person—body, spirit, and mind—and to help others actualize their whole being and human potential.
